Chain-reaction accident shuts down northbound I-15

Police had to shut down I-15 northbound Saturday afternoon for about two hours to clean up an accident involving 14 cars.

"Fortunately," said Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Verdi White II, there were no serious injuries in the chain-reaction accident.Investigators were still trying to determine what caused the first two cars to collide at 11:54 a.m. at 8800 South. Traveling too fast and following too closely caused another 12 cars to collide into each other.

Troopers closed the freeway at 10600 South and directed traffic to State Street while the wreckage was moved, White said.
