Social Security office warns of delays

The Provo Social Security office will be getting a new local area network computer system between March 30 and April 3. During that week local staff will not be available to help patrons.

Residents who may need to take care of tax-related Social Security business are asked to plan ahead. "We will have four or five people coming in from other offices," said Randy Marchant, office manager. "But there will only be enough to handle emergencies."The first week of April is typically one of the busiest weeks of the year for the Provo office. "We would not have chosen that date to get the new equipment," Marchant said, "but this is a nationwide undertaking and this is the date that we were assigned."

In order to avoid disappointment and delays, visitors and callers should plan to contact the Provo Social Security office before March 30.
