Intermountain orchestra performs Saturday in S.L.

The Intermountain Classical Orchestra, under the baton of music director Jeff Manookian, will perform Saturday, Feb. 28, at 8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, at South Temple and C Street.

One of the featured soloists at this concert will be Dustin Gledhill, the 1997 Junior Gina Bachauer Piano Competition, performing Franz Liszt's "Malediction" for piano and orchestra.Although only 17, Gledhill has already performed extensively in Canada, Mexico, Germany and Austria, as well as the United States, including appearances with the Utah Symphony.

In addition to the Bachauer prize, Gledhill has also won first prizes in the Oberlin International Piano Competition, the International Stravinsky Awards and the International California Young Artists' Competition.

Also on the program is J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6, featuring viola soloists John Englund and Lynn Rilling.

Rounding out the concert will be "Musica Celestis" by contemporary American composer Aaron Jay Kernis, and Antonin Dvorak's "Serenade."
