Death: Janet Dewey

Janet Linda Abbott Dewey, age 59, of Idaho Falls, died February 17, 1998 at her home, from complications following liver transplant surgery on January 4 in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.

She was born July 14, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Edgar Hadfield Abbott and Ruth Ann Midgley Abbott. She grew up in Salt Lake City and attended schools there, graduating from South High School. She married Fredric Allen Dewey on July 20, 1956 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was solemnized July 20, 1983 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She was a homemaker and mother. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1971, where Janet worked for School District 91 as a Special Education Teacher's Assistant at Idaho Falls High School.Active in the LDS Church, she served as Relief Society President, teacher in Special Primary, and in numerous other callings. She enjoyed Special Olympics and her special Scout Troop #559.

Surviving are her husband, Fredric Allen Dewey of Idaho Falls; son, Brett Abbott (wife, Stacey) Dewey of Boise; daughters, Michelle Jane (husband, Bill) Scott of Idaho Falls; Tonya Avanel (husband, Steve) Oram of Rigby; son, Andrew Allen Dewey of Idaho Falls; sisters, Shirley Mantle of Salt Lake City, UT; Lois Alexanian of Houston, TX; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Brady.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 21, 1998 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
