An Orem teen remains in the Utah County Jail as prosecutors and defense attorneys pore over information relevant to the slaying of a Provo man.
Lipina V. Lolohea, 17, appeared in 4th District Court Monday morning. Her attorney, Jared Leung, told Judge Lynn W. Davis that he and associate Lynn McMurray were not ready to set a date for Lolohea's preliminary hearing."We're doing some intensive investigation with the family," Leung said. "We just need more time."
Prosecutors also said that voluminous police reports and an ongoing investigation into the death of Samuela P. Loseli necessitate more time. Davis ordered Lolohea to reappear in court March 9. It's likely that a preliminary hearing will be scheduled at that time.
Deputy Utah County Attorney Phil Hadfield told Davis that prosecutors are considering amending the charge against Lolohea. He did not elaborate.
Lolohea was charged last week with murder, a first-degree felony. Her 15-year-old brother was charged with murder in 4th District Juvenile Court. Police said Loseli was killed Feb. 10 or 11. His body was found Feb. 11 in his partially burned-out car in Juab County.
