An Orem High School biology teacher has been honored as the Utah Educator of the Year by the Utah Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development.

David Lawson has been lauded by the association and the Alpine School District for his work on a curriculum that explores the connection between science and the arts.District officials also recognized Lawson's work in the media center and landscaping projects around the school. He also directed the volunteer effort to replace sod and stripe the football field.

Lawson also teaches extension classes for Utah State University.
