Jens O. Leth, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at his home, February 21, 1998.

He was born April 11, 1910 in Harrisville, Utah, to Peder Christiansen and Neilsine Pederson Leth. He was previously married and divorced. He married Letha Ashbury Leth on September 10, 1953. They have resided in North Ogden, Utah for the past 32 years.Jens was a member of the first graduating class of Weber High School in 1928. He proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II. Jens entered the service in 1942 and was discharged in 1945.

Jens worked for the mail service for 36 years, retiring as superintendent of the Gorder Station Post Office in South Ogden, Utah. After retiring, he managed the housekeeping at Sweet Water Resort at Bear Lake for six years.

Jens was an active member of the LDS Church. He has served as a Scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America, youth basketball coach, ward clerk, home teacher, Deseret Industries drive supervisor, temple worker and teacher.

Jens is survived by his wife, Letha A. Leth, of North Ogden, Utah; one brother, Orson "Brig" (Mac) Leth, of Norris Montana; two sons, Gordon N. (Dian) Leath, of Tualatin, Oregon; James Peter (Sue S.) Leth, of Salt Lake City, Utah; three daughters, Barbara Howe, of Greer, South Carolina; Judy Storms, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Judy (Tom) Price, of Syracuse, Utah; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, one son, one daughter, one grandson and one granddaughter.

Jens was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was slow to recognize the negative and quick to recognize the good in others' actions and character. He fostered a loving relationship between his family members. Animals held a special place in Jens heart as evidenced by the many animals that he cared for over the years. He had a great passion for America's national past-time, baseball. Jens was a wonderful man, a humanist, who sincerely enjoyed the company of others. He had a great memory and could recall facts at the blink of an eye. Will will greatly miss him.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Myers Mortuary Chapel in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. with Bishop Jeff Stowe officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
