Thelma Elizabeth Korous Hintze, 78, died of cancer Feb. 23, 1998 at her home in Taylorsville.

Born April 11, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter of Yaro Edward and Grace Elizabeth Howell Korous. Married Henry Sears Hintze June 27, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Active member of LDS Church where she served in many callings. She fulfilled a mission with her husband to the California Santa Rosa Mission and as an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple. Served as a Navy WAVE in World War II.Survived by husband; children, Ted (Nancy Ann) Hintze, West Valley City; Pauline (Norman) Butterfield, Louise (Craig) Elison, both of West Jordan; Jerry (Jill) Hintze, Oak City; Joel (Nancy) Hintze, St. George; Connie (Kevin) Reece, Elk Ridge; 27 grandchildren; sister, Bessie Bridge. Preceded in death by parents and four brothers, Ed, Milt, Harold and Howard.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 12 noon at the Riverview Ward, 5900 South 1300 West. Friends may call Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Thursday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park.
