Today we mark the passing of a great lady. Tyra Wilson Palmer passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 1998 at her home.

Tyra (May) Wilson was born in River Heights on May 2, 1911 to William F. and Laura Theurer Wilson. She was the youngest and only daughter of their six children. She was educated in the Logan-Cache area and graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in 1933 with a BS in Education. While in college, Tyra enjoyed and sang the lead in many operas. After graduation she taught high school in the Cache and Franklin, Idaho County School District.She married Kenneth Daniels Palmer in June, 1935. They raised four children in a warm and caring atmosphere. Tyra enjoyed many things outside of the home. She was an avid golfer and served as president of the Logan Golf and Country Club Ladies Organization in 1956.

She was a Master Bridge player and would pass her knowledge and skill on to anyone who would ask. Tyra was also a member of Clio Club of Logan for over 35 years and served as president twice.

She is survived by sons, Val W. (Norma) of Logan and William W. (Gwen) of Hyrum; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; children, Alfred Kenneth and Laura; five brothers, Vanez, Milton, Leroy, Floyd and Wilburn; and two grandchildren, Debbie and Andrew.

The family wishes to thank Dr.Edward Redd, Hospice of Cache Valley and her good and close friends, (the sisters) Peggy Palmer Jones and especially Edna (Teddy) Palmer Nelson, who helped care and watch over her in her last days.

Tyra will be sorely missed by all her family and friends. She was a grand and giving person who gave of herself without reservation.

At her request graveside services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998 at 12 p.m. in the Logan City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary, Logan, Utah.
