Newell Blaine Cook, 73, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 22, 1998.
Blaine was born December 8, 1924 in Logan, Utah, the son of David Willard and Jean Bain Livingston Cook. He served in the US Army from 1944-1946 and later, married Barbara Mair in the Salt Lake Temple on September 13, 1946. She died on April 18, 1996. He graduated from USU in Economics and Marketing and later became a contracting officer for the United State Air Force. He devoted his life to serving his wife and children and was an active member of the LDS Church. His passion was reading and he was a consummate teacher. Many years of temple service and church assignments occupied his spare moments. He enjoyed serving others, especially as a branch president, bishop and high councilor. He was a host on Temple Square and with his wife served as missionaries in the Fiji Suva and Missouri St. Louis missions.He is survived by his five sons and one daughter and their spouses: Bruce M. (Karla) Cook, Logan; W. Bryce (Karol) Cook, Providence; Stephen B. (Janeece) Cook, Evanston, WY; Jeanne C. (Matthew) Mealey, York, PA; David B. (Rinda) Cook, Saugus, CA; Craig B. (Dawn) Cook, Bountiful; 33 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Jean Clark. Blaine was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Friday, February 27, 1998, in the Cranney Mortuary Chapel, 420 East 1800 North, Logan. Friends may call at the mortuary from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday morning. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
