Nine nonprofit agencies in Salt Lake City have received $122,500 in grants from AT&T CARES, AT&T Champions of the Environment and the AT&T Foundation. Another $5,500 will be presented to 11 Salt Lake City School District elementary schools later.

AT&T employees donated 5,000 hours, worth $64,200, to community organizations and schools in 1997, AT&T officials said. In addition, the volunteer hours earned the agencies nearly $20,000 in grants.An additional $44,000 has been donated to the United Way of the Great Salt Lake Area.
