A man was stabbed during a motel room fight Monday morning.

Police say Dave Sullivan, 18, and a 17-year-old girl were in a room at the Siesta Motel, 3109 S. State, about 10 a.m. when a man forced himself in, said South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Beau Babka. The man began to punch Sullivan using a beer can, Babka said. During the fight, the man picked up a screw driver and stabbed Sullivan in the neck.

Sullivan was taken to LDS Hospital in fair condition with some cracked ribs and a neck wound that was not life-threatening, Babka said.

The cause for the fight was not clear, but apparently both men belong to the same gang, Babka said.
