George R. May, 82, passed away February 24, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born November 18, 1915 in Jerome, Idaho to George Emil May and Jemima Durrant May. He grew up in Salt Lake City and joined the C.C.C. during the depression. He later drove truck for Orange Transportation until he enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 24, 1941. He was stationed in the Philippines with the 60th Coast Artillery Corp. He received American Defense Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Service Ribbon, Philippine Defense Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Distinguished Unit Badge with two Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Victory Medal. He was discharged March 27, 1946. He was a member of the DAV James R. Thomas Jr. Chapter, life member of the American Defenders Bataan and Corregidor Inc. Retired from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Lodge 182.Preceded in death by wife Margaret, daughter Georgia K. and brother, Ralph F. May. Survived by brothers, Rulon D. (Fonda) May, Portland, OR; Wilbur J. (Janice) May, Salt Lake City, UT; Eugene H. (Clarice) May, Kearns, UT.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 28, 1998 at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South in Salt Lake City at 11 a.m. Friends may call on Sat., one hour prior to the services.
