Riley Ray Preator, age 82, passed away February 24, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah following a long and courageous struggle with cancer.

Riley was born March 12, 1915 in Burlington, Wyoming, the son of Richard Ray and Effie Pearl Riley Preator. He married Pauline Pace, December 27, 1939, at Billings, Montana. In 1950, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.Riley graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Wyoming. Throughout his life he worked as a civil engineer and as a heating and cooling consultant. Riley was a loving, devoted husband and family patriarch. His unconditional love was always focused toward his family's well-being. Riley loved the outdoors, spending many memorable days hunting, fishing and traveling with his family. He was a member of the LDS Church, residing in the Valley View 5th Ward for 44 years where he faithfully served as called.

Riley was a man of great integrity. He will be deeply missed but always remembered.

Riley was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline, July 14, 1989; and sister, Franza S. Hughes. He is survived by daughter, Franza Nadine (William J.) Neves, Murray, Utah; son, Barry Brent (Susan) Preator, Provo, Utah; and daughter, Karen Kay (Alan T.) Holt, Raymond, Alberta, Canada; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Evergreen Chapel, 2125 East Evergreen Avenue (3435 So.). Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the ward on Saturday, from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 So. 1700 E., Sandy, Utah.
