Thelma Esplin Jones, 95, passed away February 24, 1998 at Cedar Care Center in Cedar City, UT.

Thelma was born March 2, 1902 in Orderville, Utah, to Henry Cox Esplin and Lucy Chamberlain. She married Elton Lunt Jones on December 26, 1923 in the LDS St. George Temple. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, and one son, Alan Scott Jones.Thelma attended the Branch Agriculture College (SUU) and Brigham Young University. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions in the MIA, primary, Relief Society, and the D.U.P. as the organist and pianist. She was known for her beautiful garden and her work in the Cedar Garden Club and Shade Tree Commission. She loved the mountains and spent many happy times at her cabin with her family and friends. She had a sweet demeanor, a loving and generous nature, and was a friend to all she came in contact with. She loved music, art, flowers, and the Red Hill at sunset. She cherished her family.

Thelma is survived by her children, Gary (Utahna) Jones, of Salt Lake City; Jimmy Jones, of Rockville; Dorothy (Robert) Roller, of San Jose, CA; and Patricia (John) Embley, of Wilmington, NC; brothers, Henry Esplin, of Boise, ID; and Van Esplin, of Cedar City; sisters, Maxine Larrabee, of Salt Lake City; and Ramona Heaton of Kanab; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 1998, at 12 noon at the 14th ward LDS chapel, 60 North 900 West. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-7 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary. Interment will be held at Cedar City Cemetery in Cedar City, Utah.
