As a University of Pennsylvania Law School student, Henry R. Silverman took nearly all his classes in the school's original building.

As a trustee, Silverman knew the school needed a big gift to help renovate the turn-of-the-century structure. So he gave his alma mater $15 million Wednesday - the largest gift ever to a U.S. law school."I took every kind of class there is there in that building - torts, contract law," said Silverman, president and chief executive of Cendant Corp. "We're planning on restoring it so it can be reopened looking as close as humankind can make it to what it looked like 100 years ago."

The 98-year-old building will be renamed Henry R. Silverman Hall.
