Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend Mildred Ottley Shaw, passed away peacefully Feb. 25, 1998, at Provo, Utah, after a short illness.

She was born in South Cottonwood (Murray), Utah, Jan. 8, 1912, to Edward Charles Ottley and Irene Litson Ottley, the fifth of seven children. She graduated from Granite High School and worked at Glade Candy Company.She married Merlin John Shaw, June 10, 1937, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away June 10, 1963. They raised their six children in Murray, Utah, and later in the Provo, area where he was a Professor of Religion at B.Y.U. She was an excellent homemaker. She loved to quilt, sew and crochet and freely made, gave, and taught these things to others. She was a long time volunteer at the Provo Seniors Center and the UVR Medical Center. She was a lifetime faithful member of the LDS church, holding many callings through the years.

As the last leaf on the tree, she was preceded in death by her parents, and all of her brothers and sisters: Lila Carlisle, Ruby Leone Ottley, Owen Ottley, Earl H. Ottley, Norma Christensen and Myron L. Ottley.

She is survived by her children: Heidi Ann (Jack) Birch of Murray; Varol Edward Shaw of Provo; Merlene (Lynn) Bybee of South Ogden; David Owen Shaw of Orem; George Glade (Lorna) Shaw of South Jordan; and Irene (Don) Casper of Evanston, WY; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws: Betty (Owen) Ottley of Saratoga, CA; and Shirley (Myron) Ottley of Murray.

Family and friends are invited to her memorial services that will be held Sat. Feb. 28th 1998, 11 a.m. at the Slate Canyon 1st Ward Chapel, 715 South Utah Ave. (1100 East), Provo, UT. with a viewing preceding from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church. Graveside services will be held Sat., 2:30 p.m. at Murray City Cemetery 5600 So. Vine St. (800 East). Funeral Directors: Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary.
