Rangers seek volunteers for Antelope Island center

Park rangers are searching for volunteers interested in learning and sharing information about the history, geology, wildlife and beauty of Antelope Island.

Once trained, volunteers will serve at least four hours each month.A four-hour orientation and training session will be held Saturday, March 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Antelope Island Visitor Center, where volunteers would serve.

Park Ranger Ann Evans said volunteers would be sharing information with visitors from around the world. The park is open year-round.

Mountain bike and horseback riders are also being sought as volunteers by the park for its back country trail patrol.

These volunteers will be asked to ride the trails at least one weekend day a month, from April through October. This group also will hold a March 7 training meeting, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For information or to enroll for either training meeting, call Antelope Island State Park at 773-2941 or 560-6165.
