A woman was killed when the car she was driving slammed into a semitrailer-truck transporting milk Monday near Delta, Millard County.
Killed was:Margene B. Rowley, 66, Oasis, Millard County.
Rowley was heading north on U-257 when she crashed into the rear axle of the semi's trailer, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Gordon Mortensen. She failed to see a stop sign at an intersection and slammed into the truck, investigators believe. The truck was heading east on another road.
Rowley was conscious when troopers arrived about 1:15 p.m., but later died from internal injuries at Delta Community Hospital, Mortensen said. She had her cruise control set at 55 mph and didn't have time to slow down for the truck, she told investigators. She was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the truck, Ronald Eldridge, 40, Eskdale, Millard County, was not injured.
