BYU law speaker to discuss freedom of religion Feb. 5

The 1998 J. Reuben Clark Law Lecture at Brigham Young University will be Thursday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. in the Moot Court Room in the J. Reuben Clark Law Building.

Hugh Hewitt will discuss "Does Religious Freedom Have a Future? The First Amendment after Boerne." The event is free and open to the public.Hewitt is a highly respected and popular speaker and a partner in the law firm of Hewitt and McGuire in Irvine, Calif. He has also been a visiting distinguished professor at Chapman University.

Besides working and teaching in law, Hewitt hosts a PBS series in Los Angeles. He has also written "Searching for God in America 1996," which features several religious leaders including Elder Neal A. Maxwell of the LDS Church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
