A parent who is ordered to pay child support and deliberately fails to find work can be jailed or fined for contempt of court, the state Supreme Court ruled.

The ruling Monday said a court order to pay child support that a parent can meet only by finding a job does not violate the constitutional bans on involuntary servitude or imprisonment for debt.
