Death: Laurel Gibson Deans

Laurel Gibson Deans, 83, passed away January 30, 1998 following a short illness.

She was born September 1, 1914 in Hurricane, Utah, the daughter of George Wood Gibson and Jessie Helen Jennings Gibson. She married Leslie Henry Deans, July 7, 1934 in St. George, Utah. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, August 14, 1934. Laurel was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in all organizations and was in Relief Society presidencies under six Bishops. She was always concerned about other people and their problems. She loved to do her Visiting Teaching. She loved cooking, sewing, quilting and crocheting and sharing her creations with others. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for over 25 years. For the past several years, Laurel and Les have had a weekly temple assignment at the Jordan River Temple. She especially loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always remembering their birthdays. She took great pleasure in having a family Christmas party every year at her home. We will all miss her.She is survived by her husband, Leslie of 63 years; two sons and two daughters, Boyd (JoAnn) Deans; Steve (Judy) Deans; Arlene (Edward) Davis; and Kristine (Steve) Adams; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Mads (Mary) Gibson, Brent (Joyce) Gibson, and Winston Gibson; sisters, Phyllis Welch, Nedra (Reed) Sevy, Inez Connor, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda; son, Larry; brother, Malon.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 1998, 12 noon, Winder West Stake Center, 1250 East 4530 South. Friends may call at Jenkin-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State, Wednesday evening, 6-8 p.m. or at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.
