Death: Charles Dennett Phelps

Charles Dennett Phelps, age 82, died February 1, 1998 surrounded by his loving family in his Taylorsville home after a long struggle with emphysema and colon cancer.

Born January 20, 1916 in Malden, Massachusetts to Charles Henry and Dora Bell Farrar Phelps. Married Ann Kristine Knudsen September 14, 1944 in Salinas, California. Served honorably in the battle of Guadalcanal during World War II as a Tech 4 Artillery Mechanic and Ammo handler. After working for Proctor and Gamble, in California, moved to Utah in 1952. His career in Salt Lake City included; Salt Lake Hardware, Turf Equipment Company, Com-N-C, Kearns Sales and Service, Speeds, United Sales and Service. His endeavors lead him to become one of the most outstanding parts managers in the valley.Loved by his family, he was a man who always did his best to do the right thing.

Survived by wife, Ann; children, Richard (Karla) Phelps, Sandy; Greg Phelps, Sandy; Cyndi (Lawrence) East, Bountiful; seven grandchildren, Warren and Braden, Phelps, Christopher, Bryan, Laurel, Phillip and Heather East; one great-grandchild. Preceded in death by parents and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 12 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Where friends may call Friday one hour prior to services. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
