Death: MarGenne Barton Rowley

MarGenne Barton Rowley, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, age 66, died Feb. 2, 1998 in Delta.

She was born July 5, 1931 at St. George to Alma Ross and Alice Cannon Barton. On June 5, 1954 she married Walter Eldon Rowley in the St. George LDS Temple. MarGenne graduated from the University of Utah. She taught Home Economics in Hurricane and Delta High Schools. She worked for Utah State University as an Extension Agent in Millard County for 28 years where she was the upholstery specialist and worked with the 4-H program. In 1984, she received the Distinguished Service award in New York City for her excellent service as an Extension Agent. MarGenne enjoyed various crafts including knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, and especially counted cross stitch.She has served on the Six County Senior Citizens' board for over 30 years and the Governor's State Board of Aging for the last 6 years.

She was an active member of the LDS Church where she held many positions including the Gospel Doctrine class that she taught for numerous years. She and Eldon served a mission at Cove Fort for the past three years. At the time of her death, she was involved in the genealogy extraction program and was the ward bulletin editor - a calling she took great pride in. She was a friend to all and was a great influence on the lives of many people. Her greatest joy came from her family and she loved to talk about them, especially her five grandsons.

She is survived by her beloved Husband, Oasis; Son: Eldon Kimble (Sandra) Rowley, Hinckley; Daughter: Eljean Rowley, Delta; five Grandsons, Andrew Eldon Rowley, Peter Edward Rowley, Jared Michael Rowley, Mark Justin Rowley, Timothy Quinn Rowley, Hinckley; Brothers: Bruce Barton, Richmond, Virginia; Blayne Jay Barton, Bloomington; Sisters: Arva Carroll, Homer, Alaska; Myrna Gaye Bateman, St. George. She was preceded in death by two Daughters: Cindy Kaye Rowley, Nannette Rowley; Brothers: Alma Mason Barton, David Cannon Barton, Sisters: Nedra Gaye Barton, Ellen Herrin, Rula Bonadurer.

Funeral services will be Friday February 6, 1998 at 11 AM in the Deseret-Oasis Ward. Friends may call Thursday February 5th 7-8 p.m. at the Nickle Mortuary and 10-10:45 at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Deseret Cemetery.
