Utah Valley State College has received more than $65,000 in parts and merchandise from AutoZone, an auto parts chain.
AutoZone's vendor, R&B Motor-mite, made the donation to UVSC, which is one of 130 schools across the nation that AutoZone, based in Memphis, Tenn., has teamed up with through the company's Partners in Education program.Partnerships are established with schools that offer automotive-related courses in areas where AutoZone stores and distribution centers are located.
The program was created to improve student achievement and to prepare students to successfully enter the work force after graduation.
"We are delighted to be working with AutoZone and to receive such a generous donation," said Bob Campbell, instructor of the automotive department. "Having up-to-date equipment and parts helps strengthen and improve our program."
UVSC has shared a portion of the donation with various high schools in Utah and Wasatch counties.
