Revised bill on acupuncture and licensing clears hurdle

A bill setting up a licensing procedure and administrative board for professional acupuncturists was given preliminary approval by the Senate Thursday afternoon.

HB57 was supported on a 23-2 vote after extensive revision in a Senate committee earlier in the week. The original bill required Utah acupuncturists to keep their patient records in English and to demonstrate fluency in the language. The committee softened those requirements.
