Death: Gwen Stewart Ward

Gwen Stewart Ward, age 90, gently passed away of natural causes on Feb. 5, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born Aug. 28, 1907 in Warren, Utah the youngest child of Ethel Wayment Stewart and Daniel Claybourne Stewart. Married Rex Clark Ward on June 11, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Gwen graduated from BYU and enjoyed a long and rewarding career teaching school. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many church callings including the Primary General Board. She served two full-time missions to Texas and Missouri. She loved being a volunteer and served over 25 years at LDS and VA Hospitals. She was recently honored for her service by Governor Leavitt and General Colin Powell.She is survived by children; Craig M. (June) Ward, L. Melvin (Kay) Ward, and Helen W. (Stuart) Poelman; 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and special nephews - Kent Stewart, Bryce (Beverly) Stewart and family.

A special thanks to her loving extended family, her many loyal friends, volunteers at LDS and V. A. Hospitals, and supportive care givers at Cottonwood Creek and Wasatch Valley Rehab Center. Preceded in death by her husband, Rex; sister, Norma and brother, Reed.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, 12:00 noon in the Yalecrest II Ward, 1035 South 1800 East. Friends may call Sunday from 6-7:30 pm at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South and 10:30 - 11:30 am on Monday at the ward. Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Family suggests contributions to the LDS Missionary General Fund in honor of Gwen.
