DUI program director going to jail on DUI conviction

For nearly 10 years, David McGriff has been the head of a program for convicted drunken drivers, counseling those sent to him by judges for treatment.

He won't be able to keep his appointments for about three weeks, not after being convicted Wednesday of driving under the influence of alcohol nearly 2 1/2 years ago.McGriff, 48, was sentenced to 20 days in jail, a year of probation and six months without a driver's license, effective immediately. He also must attend DUI school, perform 50 hours of community service and pay a $500 fine.

He is appealing the conviction.
