Death: Emmi H. I. Mueller Schmelter

Emmi H. I. Mueller Schmelter, our beloved Mama, Oma and Grandma, peacefully returned to our Heavenly Father on Feb. 7, 1998 at her daughters home, and was looking forward to being reunited with her eternal companion.

Mama was born Jan. 3, 1907 in Wilhelmshagen, Berlin, Germany to K. Rudolph G. Mueller and A. H. Ida Stieler Mueller. Married Willy A. W. Schmelter in Berlin on Jan. 7, 1928. Immigrated to Salt Lake City in 1953 and their dream of an eternal marriage was realized Jan. 21, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Active member of the LDS Church, five year extraction mission, one year temple mission and continued faithful temple service for over 40 years.Survived by three children: daughters, Gabriele Nelson and Jay of Mesa, Arizona; Christa D. Spilker and Melvin; and son, J. Mike Schmelter and Dorothea, both of Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Elsa Schmelter; and nieces and nephews in Germany; 12 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, two brothers, two sisters, and two grandsons.

Our special thanks to the nurses at LDS Hospital (7 West) and IHC home care who gave so much support, especially Ruth Bateman.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Rose Park 8th Ward 1200 West 1200 North. Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 9, 1998 at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East.
