Sister Maryam, an African heritage folklorist, teams with kindergartner Nigel Clarkson to create different rhythms during last week's Multicultural Community Day at Newman Elementary School, 1269 N. Colorado St. (1340 West). Presenters hailed from Vietnamese, Greek, pioneer and Tongan cultures, among others. "We hope to pool in the community the wealth of resources and build bridges for community involvement in a positive manner," said Janice Schroeder, multicultural director for the district.
