The manager of a convenience store was stabbed before two assailants left the store with thousands in cash Saturday.
David Christy, manager of the Flying J Convenience Store just north of Ogden, heard noises while he was in his office in the back of the store about 5 a.m. before the store opened. When Christy walked out of his office to see what was going on, a man jabbed at him with the knife, police said."He was stabbed at but fended off the knife with his hands," said Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Klint Anderson. "The injuries weren't serious. The knife never made it to his body."
Christy, 41, underwent surgery at McKay-Dee Hospital Saturday afternoon for the cuts to his hands, Anderson said. He was in good condition Saturday night.
The men cleaned out the store's safe and got away with thousands of dollars, Anderson said. Christy had opened the safe earlier to put the money in the cash registers.
Police were looking into leads but hadn't made any arrests by Saturday evening.
