Clarence Andrew Godwin, age 83, passed away March 14, 1998 at his home in St. George, Utah, surrounded by his family.

Born January 23, 1915, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Andrew and Minnie June Jensen Godwin. He married Sylva Bodily, October 6, 1933 in Randolph, Utah; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Clarence was a painting contractor in the intermountain area for many years and worked on numerous schools, hospitals, and other large facilities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and training his labrador dogs. He participated in many AKC field trials with his dogs. He also enjoyed flying his plane and traveling in his motor home. He loved to attend his church meetings and to go home teaching. His most cherished activity in recent years was having his sweetheart read to him every evening before sleep.Survived by his wife, Sylva, St. George, UT; one son, Ronald L. (wife, Myrna) Godwin, Sandy, UT, one daughter June (husband, Mick) McAfee, Salt Lake City, UT; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Gladys Babb, Salt Lake City, UT, brother, Leslie (wife, Gloria) Honduras. Preceded in death by four sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 1998, 1 p.m., at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North N Street. Friends may call Wednesday From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, prior to the services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Holbrook Mortuary.
