Gustave (Gus) Fredrick Fredrickson Jr., age 85, loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away on March 12, 1998, at his home after a short illness.
Born October 24, 1912, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Gustave Fredrick Fredrickson Sr. and Lydia Gertrude Cook. He spent the majority of his early life in Roosevelt. He served an LDS mission to the North Central States Mission in Minnesota from 1934-36. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He could fix anything and pursued his profession as a mechanic and a truck driver.He married Gladys Boswell in 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Father to two sons and two daughters. After brief stays in Provo and Bonanza, they moved to South Cottonwood in 1957. An active member of the LDS Church, his service was generally rendered in ways that very few were aware. He was generous with using his many talents to help those in need. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survived by his loving wife, Gladys; and children, Mike (Karen) Fredrickson of Salt Lake City; Jim (Susan) Fredrickson of Sunnyvale, CA; Susan (David) von Bose of Arlington, TX; and Bev (Evan) Pitts of Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren; brothers, Harold Fredrickson, Roosevelt, UT; Arvid (Ruby) Fredrickson, Garland, UT; Hal (Catherine) Taylor, Springville, UT; and Grant (June) Fredrickson, Bountiful, UT; sisters, Elsa Ruesch, Springdale, UT; Shemla Collins, Salt Lake City; and Beth (Rondo) Sullivan, Vernal, UT. Preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18, at South Cottonwood 2nd Ward building, 5555 South 980 East, Salt Lake City, at 12 noon. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Memorial Estates, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, and at the church one hour prior to services Wednesday. Interment, Memorial Estates Cemetery.
