Two people were injured when two horses ran amok during chariot races at the Golden Spike Fairgrounds over the weekend.
Linda Wood, 34, South Weber, suffered multiple injuries to her leg and had surgery at McKay Dee Hospital Saturday.Her brother, Larry Adams, 47, Plain City, was treated for injuries to his right leg, shoulder and jaw.
The animals hit a barrel during warmup, throwing the owner, Jack Clawson, from the chariot, said his wife, Linda Clawson.
Clawson held onto the reins and was dragged along but was unable to stop the horses before they ran into a barn.
Inside the barn, the horses caught Wood between the char-iot and a horse trailer, crushing her legs. Adams was hit as he turned a corner with another pair of horses on a lead. He was trampled by his own horses.
The runaways were eventually brought under control. One horse, Elite Policy, suffered a bruised shoulder. Clawson's other horse, Outta The Teetons, was unharmed.
