Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt flew to southern Utah Saturday to sign legislative bills into law that will have a substantial effect on the state's rural residents, paving the way for a junior college in Richfield and natural gas for the first time to Panguitch.

Panguitch has sought natural gas but had difficulty in finding a way to pay for it. HB180 will open the door, through the state, for financing such programs. The governor signed the natural gas bill at the Panguitch City Conference Room and then flew to Richfield.A new concept in the annals of Utah education will be forthcoming with the establishment of Snow College South in Richfield, merging the Sevier Valley Applied Technology Center with Snow College. Leavitt signed the bill at 4:30 p.m. at SVATC.
