As we mourn the passing of one of Heavenly Father's special daughters, in Heaven they are rejoicing as she enters into the loving arms of her husband, Ruland, and sons, Robert and Leland. Mary Stones Hill, age 88, died Saturday, March 21, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mary was born September 20, 1909 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of George Edward Stones and Mary Agnes Toone Stones. She married Ruland Odell Hill on September 20, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mary and Ruland were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 25, 1941. They were the parents of six children.She was a member of the Richards Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many church positions throughout her life. Mary and her husband owned their own catering business for ten years and were host and hostess for receptions at Memory Grove. She was a gifted seamstress.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Gene (Heyward) Davis, Sandy, Utah; sons, Kenneth Boyd Hill, Salt Lake City, Utah; Sherron D. (Afton) Hill, Orem, Utah; Ronald Even (Colleen) Hill, Sandy, Utah; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hill, Salt Lake City, Utah; sister, Myrtle (Pat) Fullmer, Winnemucca, Nevada; 23 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ruland; two sons, Robert Ruland and Leland Dale; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, March 26, 1998 in the Richards Ward, 855 Garfield Avenue. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and Thursday from 10:30-11:45 a.m. at the church. Mary will be buried next to her husband, Ruland, in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
