For teens, a newly acquired driver's license means freedom, power and status. But it also brings danger. According to the Utah Safety Council, 95 Utahns 15 to 24 years old died in motor vehicle crashes during 1996.

Parents can help protect their teens by encouraging them to take advantage of opportunities to learn about driver safety. The Utah Safety Council offers Defensive Driving Courses for various age groups, including the Alive At Twenty-five course for teens. Call the Utah Safety Council at 1-801-262-5400 or 1-800-933-5943.
