Utah Jazz forward Karl Malone and Miami Heat coach Pat Riley were named the NBA player and coach of the month for February.
Malone helped the Jazz to a 9-2 record by averaging 26.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists a game.He shot almost 55 percent from the field, assisting the Jazz to wins against Western Conference rivals Seattle, San Antonio, Phoenix and Houston. The Jazz also beat the two-time defending champion Chicago Bulls.
Malone scored 20 or more points in all 11 games and 30 or more three times. He led the Jazz in scoring in every game and in rebounding nine times.
