The City Council is poised to pull the plug on a local cable television company.
Provo Cable Co. owes the city about $7,000 in franchise fees. The company also was late with its two previous payments.Council Chairman Greg Hudnall delivered the company owners an ultimatum Tuesday: Pay up or lose your license. He said it was his understanding that Provo Cable was to have paid by Tuesday. A frustrated Hudnall said the if money is not paid by the March 17 council meeting, the council will hold a license revocation hearing.
Assistant City Attorney Robert West said Provo Cable, which is owned by Pleasant Grove-based Northstar Communications, used the money to cover expenses. Northstar is currently in Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
