Arthur Loran Latimer, age 83, passed away March 3, 1998 in St. George, UT.
He was born April 12, 1914 in Nephi, Utah, to George Oran and Leah Lavern Painter Latimer. He married Margaret Wright, April 28, 1937 in Pocatello, ID. They have enjoyed companionship for over 60 years. They had one daughter, Lynne Adele Latimer Mathews, who passed away in 1980.He was employed as a machinist for the Union Pacific Railroad in Pocatello, ID, for 15 years. He operated Avis Car Rental Agency and Latimers Union 76 Services for 20 years, retiring in 1980. He was past president and secretary of the Petroleum Retailers of Greater Idaho, Inc. and past president of Jr. Old Timers. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist Local #198, the Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Lions Club, PBOE Elks Club #674, Pocatello Golf and Country Club, and Highland Golf Association. He was past president of Rythmn Dance Club and stake dance director for the LDS Church. He enjoyed golf, ballroom dancing, and bridge. He and his wife, spent the winters in St. George, Utah.
Survivied by wife, Margaret; son-in-law, James D. Mathews, of Bountiful; grandchildren, Susan (David) Hunter, Glendale, AZ; Shellie (David) LeFevre, of Bountiful; Sauni (Cary) Henrie, of Bountiful; Steven (Aimee) Mathews, of Layton; Shannon (Tim) Curd, of Salt Lake City; Scot (Nicole) Mathews, of No. Salt Lake City; Sally (Brian) Jensen, of Bountiful; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Affectionately known as "Bompa".
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 1998 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi, UT. Friends may call Saturday one hour prior to services. Burial in the Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi.
