A state trooper who watched a minivan swerve and then finally break down on I-95 found more than engine trouble when he stopped to help. Police said he also found 258 pounds of marijuana.

Trooper Doug Brooks said the 1992 Plymouth minivan pulled in front of him Friday afternoon. It almost immediately began weaving as if it had engine trouble and pulled off the road. When Brooks stopped to help, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the van. The three men inside also appeared nervous, Brooks said, and a subsequent search revealed illegal Cuban cigars and seven garbage bags filled with marijuana.

The three men were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

"You'd think they'd have had a more reliable vehicle," Brooks said.
