Western region leads way in hiring of financial workers

Utah and the other Mountain states are expected to outpace the rest of the nation in the hiring of accounting and finance professionals in the second quarter, says the Salt Lake office of Robert Half International Inc.

According to Half's financial hiring index, 17 percent of chief financial officers in the region say their companies plan to hire financial workers compared with only 2 percent saying they plan to decrease financial staff. The net 15 percent projected gain is up 8 percent from the first quarter and 3 percent higher than the national average.

"We're seeing increased financial hiring activity throughout the region," said Bob Clark, regional manager for Half.

"Low unemployment is leading employers to accelerate their hiring decisions to avoid losing qualified candidates."
