Grace Estella Calderwood Marchant was born on December 29, 1908 in Spanish Fork, Utah to John M. Calderwood and Grace Brimhall. She died on June 8, 1998 in Sandy, Utah of causes incident to her age.
She was the youngest in her family. Her brothers, John Wells Calderwood and Grant Brimhall Calderwood precede her in death in the 1980's.Estella married Dilworth Harper Marchant on October 19, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on February 12, 1937. Dilworth preceded Estella in death on January 5, 1998.
Dilworth and Estella made their home in Holladay, Utah until December 1997 when they had to leave their beloved home to live in a facility where they could receive the health care necessitated by their age related health needs.
Dilworth H. Marchant and Estella Calderwood Marchant are the parents of three children, Sylvia Dee Marchant West (David), John Dilworth Marchant (Dorothy), and Kathleen Marchant Dahl. They are the grandparents of 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She attended the University of Utah where she received a degree in Bacteriology. She worked in local hospitals and at Olympus Clinic as a laboratory technician. She returned to the U. of U. to work on a degree in Elementary Education. She did substitute teaching in Granite School District for 15 years.
Estella was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served numerous callings in the church. She did hundreds of hours of genealogy research and temple work. She had a deep love of music. She loved to play her violin in school and church settings. She also sang in school and church choirs. Estella was a talented artist and did many lovely paintings for those she loved. She had many other talents, the greatest of which was her ability to give love to those around her. She will be missed by those whose lives she has touched.
Friends and family may call Thursday, 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to service at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray. Funeral, Friday, 2 p.m. at Memorial Estates. Interment, Holladay Cemetery.
