A record number of screenplays are being considered for $25,000 grants from the Don and Gee Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has announced.
Of the 4,440 scripts submitted, entries originated from all 50 U.S. states and 20 countries.Five $25,000 grants are available to screenwriters who have not sold or optioned a screenplay for more than $1,000 or received any award that includes a "first look" clause, option or obligation involving the writer's work. The fellowship winners will be announced in October.
