Roger J. McDonough died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, from complications following a stroke.

He was born April 17, 1934 to Mildred Anne Devine and Utah Supreme Court Justice Roger I. McDonough. He attended Judge Memorial, elementary through high school, graduating in 1952. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served active duty 1953-1955Roger married Patricia Houghton April 23, 1955. She died October 13, 1986. They had four children, Kevin Michael (Jana), Eileen Marie (Rob Wiss), Maureen Patricia (Jeff Wilkerson), and Kathleen Anne, who died in 1981 at the age of 20 years.

In 1959, Roger graduated from the University of Utah Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review. He was a partner in the Salt Lake Law firm of Jones, Waldo, Holbrook and McDonough until his retirement. He was a founding member of the Hibernian Society of Utah.

In addition to three of his children, Roger is survived by his sister, Anne D. Moore; three brothers, John V. McDonough, Edward J. McDonough, and Gerald M. McDonough, and six grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 13th, 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholc Church, 1975 South 2300 East. A vigil service will be held Friday, June 12th, 6:30 p.m. at the Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may call 5:30-6:30 p.m. Committal, Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that charitable contributions be made to Judge Memorial Catholic High School, 650 South 1100 East, SLC UT 84102, or the Hibernian Society of Utah, P.O. Box 9373, SLC, UT 84109-0373
