SHARE Mine tallies a million visitors

A fifth-grade teacher was the one-millionth visitor to Kennecott Copper's Bingham Canyon Mine.

Jeanne Leigh-Goldstein was in charge of a busload of Altara Elementary School students from the Jordan District that visited the open-pit mine in southwest Salt Lake County on Tuesday.The mine's visitors center began keeping count in April 1992.

Leigh-Golstein was given a Kennecott hard hat and an invitation to return to the mine with her husband and daughter this summer for a guided tour and a ride on one of the mine's 255-ton trucks.
