Microsoft boss Bill Gates has an ally in Wyoming, a state known more for cow chips than computer chips.
Gov. Jim Geringer sent Gates a supportive e-mail expressing his disagreement with the antitrust lawsuit the Justice Department and 20 states have filed against Microsoft. The lawsuits filed last month allege Microsoft forced computer makers using Windows operating software to also sell Microsoft's Internet browser.
"I thought you could use some fresh Wyoming air," Geringer wrote. "We don't think it's necessary to stop Microsoft from doing what you do best." Geringer said he has more than one browser on his computers and can switch back and forth without problem.
