Game 2: Saturday night at the Delta Center

Mystics 27 50 -77

Starzz 45 33 -78

First half: A scoring duel between Washington's Nikki McCray, considered by some the best woman player in the country, who made 7 of 12 shots, including 3-for-3 on threes, and totaled 19 points, and Utah's Tammi Reiss, who was 6-for-6 with two 3-pointers for 17 points. That tied Reiss' career high - in the first half. The half was also costly for Utah, which was whistled for 18 fouls, including five on Olympia Scott and four on Margo Dydek.

Second half: McCray was held to just seven points on 2-for-5 shooting, but 6-foot-5 Alessandra Santos de Oliveira came through with 10 boards and seven points in the half to help keep Washington moving. It led by nine much of the first 10 minutes, but a Kim Williams three with 8:12 left began eating away the lead, and the Starzz put on a furious rush similar to the one Thursday. Only this one was successful. McCray was stripped of the ball twice in the closing seconds, and a bad pass by Santos de Oliveira went to Williams, who called time, then made the winning layup - the Starzz' only lead of the second half.

Records: Starzz 1-1; Mystics 0-2

Quotable: "I've got good 1-on-1 moves, and the team had the confidence in me to take the last shot, and I came through on it." - Kim Williams
