Registration for the 29th annual Deseret News/Granite Furniture marathon and 15th annual 10K begins June 15.
"Marathoning is making a resurgence," according to race director Scott Kerr, "and we're going to have an exceptionally great race this year with loads of support."Kerr is also special events director for Salt Lake County, which manages the race along with the Deseret News.
The cost of the marathon is $25 and the 10K $18. The fee includes a T-shirt, race support, post-race refreshments and expo at Liberty Park.
Registration is accepted during business hours at all four Granite Furniture locations, Sugar House, West Jordan, Orem and Layton. In addition, runners may register at the Deseret News building, 30 E. 100 South, Suite 400 and at Salt Lake County Recreation, 2001 S. State # S-4900.
Walk-in registration continues through July 18 and late fees begin the following week.

For the second year, a noncompetitive 5K walk will allow anyone not ready for the marathon or 10K to participate. Walkers begin at the Delta Center at 6:30 a.m., making their way to the Days of '47 parade route on 200 East and eventually to Liberty Park. The cost of the 5K is $16 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. A special family rate is $40 for a family of four. The fee includes a T-shirt, post-race souvenir, refreshments and expo at Liberty Park.
One thousand marathoners are expected and 3,500 in the 10K. The top man and woman in the 10K will take home $2,500 and some of the top world-class runners are expected to compete.
