Villagers cross a makeshift bamboo bridge as they leave their flooded village of Dhemaji on Sunday. Heavy floods caused by torrential monsoon rains have claimed at least 60 lives and disrupted the lives of more than 2.5 million people in northeastern India in the past few days. Health workers in the western part of the nation - which is still reeling from last week's cyclones - are trying to prevent the spread of malaria and cholera among survivors. The death toll rose above 1,000 Monday.
